Dear Sir/Madame,
Our Society, inaugurated in May 1959, is set to have completed its 50th year of eventful and purposeful engagement with the people of the Japanese archipelago this year. In this regard, a Golden Jubilee Celebration is proposed to be held in a befitting manner with activities and programmes for one year with effect from May 2009 to mark this joyous occasion and to propagate the message of Vedanta, Ramakrishna-Vivekananda to all corners of this Land of The Rising Sun. In fact the value of the Vedanta Society of Japan’s role in propagating this inspiring and enlightening message cannot be overemphasized in our current scenario of problems facing the world and Japan.
To effectively celebrate our Golden Jubilee will require ideas, help and support from all quarters to include, admirers, friends and devotees of the Ramakrishna Order in general and the Vedanta Society of Japan in particular. Such help and support from people like you will go a long way in making this momentous occasion brilliantly successful.
Suggested programmes of the celebration include opening and closing ceremonies with speeches by distinguished speakers, cultural programmes, exhibition, publication of books and special issue of the Society’s magazine and CDs, service to the ‘Daridra-Narayanas’ ( destitute people ), free distribution of books etc.
Opening ceremony of the celebration has been tentatively fixed on Sunday, 14th of June. For further details of the celebration please visit our website (Vedanta.jp) from April onwards. Please join the Golden Jubilee programmes with your family and friends.
Please see attached for further information on the background of this Celebration.
With loving namaskar and sincere thanks,
Yours in Sri Ramakrishna,
Swami Medhasananda
President
